Newcastle United drew with Liverpool at St. James’ Park in the Premier League at the weekend.

Shelvey featured for Newcastle in the Premier League game against Liverpool at St. James’ Park at the weekend.
The 25-year-old central midfielder started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as it ended in a 1-1 draw.
The former Charlton Athletic and Liverpool midfielder played well against Jurgen Klopp’s side, and ex-Chelsea and Manchester United star Wilkins has praised him.

“Let’s give Jonjo a little bit of credit as well because that young man can pass a football,” said Wilkins on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, October 2, 2017).
“I know he has got other things to his game that we don’t necessarily like, but given time and space, he passes it as well as anybody.”

Shelvey has been on the books of Newcastle since January 2016 when he joined from Swansea City for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £12 million.
The midfielder is a talented player with a lot of quality, but he needs to add consistency in his game.
Newcastle are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 10 points from seven matches.
