Ray Wilkins makes a prediction about Tottenham’s season, suggests it’s a very difficult time

Ray Wilkins has offered his view on Tottenham Hotspur.

Pundit Ray Wilkins has told Sky Sports that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur will struggle at Wembley throughout the season – and also thinks they are facing a ‘very difficult time’ fixture-wise.

Spurs hosted Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, claiming a narrow 1-0 win thanks to Christian Eriksen’s second half winner.

Tottenham will be delighted to have finally picked up their first Wembley win of the season, having lost to Chelsea and drawn with both Burnley and Swansea City at their temporary home this season.

Whilst manager Mauricio Pochettino turns his attention to the Champions League this evening with the trip to face Real Madrid, he will also have one eye on the huge clash with Liverpool at Wembley this weekend.

Spurs are entering a run of five crucial games now, starting with tonight’s trip to Real Madrid and then that game against Liverpool, but they also face West Ham United in the Carabao Cup, Manchester United in the Premier League and then the return game with Real Madrid at Wembley.

Pochettino will be hoping for a series of strong results, especially with the likes of Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela coming back from injury, but pundit Ray Wilkins doesn’t fancy their chances.

Wilkins has told Sky Sports that he felt Tottenham only just did enough against Bournemouth, and predicts that Wembley won’t be a friendly place for Spurs to play throughout the season.

Wilkins added that the upcoming fixtures mean it’s a ‘very difficult time’ for Tottenham, and that makes beating Bournemouth and getting that first league win at Wembley all the more important.

“They just did enough, but Wembley is not being too friendly to Tottenham at the moment and I think it is going to be the same the whole season through,” said Pochettino. “It is a very difficult time for Tottenham at the moment, with Real Madrid and Liverpool to come there over the next few weeks, and a trip to Man Utd, so it was imperative that they won, got that monkey off their backs and picked up the three points,” he added.
