Ray Wilkins suggested on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 10am, September 23, 2016) that Rangers midfielder Joey Barton should concentrate on playing football.
Barton, who joined Rangers in the summer transfer window after leaving English club Burnley at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, is currently serving a three-week suspension.
As announced on the Scottish Premiership club’s official website this past Monday, the midfielder has been suspended for three weeks.
The former Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers midfielder recently told talkSPORT about a training ground bust-up between him and Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday following the Gers’ 5-1 defeat to Celtic in the Old Firm derby at Celtic Park.

Former Rangers midfielder Wilkins believes that Barton should concentrate on playing football.
“We hear a lot about Joey,” said Wilkins on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 10am, September 23, 2016). “Joey is a good footballer, but we don’t see enough of that side of him and a bit too much of the other side.”
“Just get back to playing football,” added the former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder. “Don’t worry about what goes on in the dressing room. You leave that to the coaches and the managers.”

Barton is a good footballer, but the Englishman has not played well for Rangers so far this season.
The former Manchester City midfielder will prove to be an asset to the Gers if he is welcomed back into the squad once he has served his suspension.
Rangers are seventh in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with nine points from six matches, seven points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic.
