Ray Wilkins gives verdict on Everton target Gylfi Sigurdsson

Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson is reportedly on the radar of Everton in the summer transfer window.

Former Rangers and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ray Wilkins praised reported Everton target and Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 10, 2017).

Sigurdsson is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and is a key figure in the current Swansea team.

The Iceland international has been linked with moves away from the Swans in the summer transfer window.

According to BBC Sport, Everton are interested in the former Tottenham Hotspur star, who is claimed to be valued by the Welsh outfit at £50 million.

While discussing about speculation linking Everton with a move for Sigurdsson on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 10, 2017), former Chelsea and Manchester United star Wilkins said: “I have got to say, I think he is a fantastic player.

“In and around the penalty box, he is inventive. If he gets a free kick, it’s more often than not on target, if not in the back of the net. I think the guy’s a really, really good player.”

Sigurdsson scored nine goals and provided 13 assists in 38 Premier League appearances for Swansea during the 2016-17 campaign, as the Swans narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship.

According to BBC Sport, Leicester City have had an offer of around £40m for the midfielder rejected recenty, with The Daily Star reporting of West Ham United’s interest in the 27-year-old.
