Tottenham Hotspur managed to claim a 1-1 draw against Arsenal yesterday.
Ray Wilkins has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 7th November, that Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane looked ‘short’ against Arsenal yesterday.
Kane was selected to start up front for Spurs in the North London derby, despite only just making it back to full fitness.
The 23-year-old did manage to score Tottenham’s equaliser from the penalty spot, but Wilkins was not impressed with the England international.
He said: “I thought he was average yesterday. He would have worked hard, but when you get out there and you’re playing in such a high profile game, he looked short.
“But there were two things which stood out for me. He was the first one to pick Wimmer up, after he scored the own goal, and then he showed the bottle to take the penalty.”
Kane had missed a sizeable chunk of action in the build up to the Arsenal match, and showed signs of rustiness.
The Tottenham academy graduate missed a header in the first half, when Christian Eriksen flicked in a good cross, and he also could not quite convert a cross from Danny Rose.
Kane was withdrawn after 70 minutes and replaced by Vincent Janssen for Tottenham, but the Dutch striker was ineffective.
Kane has been named as part of the England squad for their matches against Scotland and Spain in the coming week, but it remains to be seen whether the Spurs striker will be fit enough to feature.
