Much was expected of Marko Arnautovic when he joined West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old winger had been one of the better players at Stoke City in recent years, and although he had been inconsistent, he had been a success in the Premier League.

The Austria international, who can also operate as a forward, has struggled to make an impact at the London Stadium so far this season.

Arnautovic has yet to score or provide an assist in the Premier League and also been sent off on one occasion.

As reported by The London Evening Standard, the Hammers had to pay Stoke a transfer fee of £25 million in order to secure the services of the 28-year-old.

According to The Mirror, new West Ham manager David Moyes could sell the winger as he has been given the authority to sell any player he thinks is not suitable to his needs.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Ray Wilkins has given his take on the future of Arnautovic, asking whether the Hammers will get what they paid for the Austrian if they try to sell him – a very pertinent question indeed.

Wilkins said on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT last Friday morning (07:21am, November 10, 2017) about Arnautovic: “How much are they going to get back? I have got to say if he pulls his finger out, this guy can create and he can score.”
