Tottenham Hotspur face Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League tonight, and Ray Parlour is optimistic about their chances of picking up a win.

Ray Parlour has told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (broadcast on 26th September 2017; 7:59 am) that he expects Tottenham to have more than enough to beat Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League on Tuesday night despite some of their first-team players being absent for the game.

With Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund also in Spurs’ group, Mauricio Pochettino’s men may have felt that it is most probably going to come down to themselves and Dortmund for the qualification spot for the knockout stages assuming that Madrid also go through, as many expect them to.

And Tottenham kicked off their campaign in the perfect manner, by beating Dortmund in a fantastic game at Wembley a fortnight ago.

And while Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli will be missing for the game against Apoel, Parlour not only suggested that he is expecting Tottenham to take the three points, but added that it would not surprise him to see Spurs end the evening in a fantastic position in their group.

“Yeah, I should imagine so,” he told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (broadcast on 26th September 2017; 7:59 am) when asked if they’ll still be strong enough to secure the win despite missing some key players.

“All eyes will be on Dortmund’s game against Real Madrid as well, so Spurs fans will be hoping Real Madrid can get a result there. If they can win that one and Spurs win, it puts them in a great position to get through.”

As Parlour suggests, victories for Tottenham and Madrid would see the pair move onto six points, while the other two teams would have none.

Getting off to that kind of start will not only give them a great chance of booking their spot in the knockout stages, but it would also give them a huge amount of confidence heading into the back-to-back games with Los Blancos after the international break.
