Ray Parlour suggests result Tottenham would be delighted with against Chelsea

Ray Parlour has told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (broadcast on November 21st 2016) that he thinks that Tottenham Hotspur would be delighted if they could come away from their next Premier League game with a draw.

After facing Monaco in the Champions League on Tuesday, Mauricio Pochettino’s men face a somewhat daunting trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Saturday.

With Antonio Conte’s men moving to the top of the table and currently enjoying a run of six consecutive wins in the top flight, Parlour has suggested that Spurs would be over the moon if they came out of the contest with their unbeaten run in the league still in tact, before explaining how they should target Chelsea’s wing-backs if they hope to get the better of the Blues’ system.

“I think a point is a good point for Spurs,” he told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT. “If they can go to Stamford Bridge and get a point then I think Pochettino will be delighted with that.

“You’ve got to try and drag these players out, but Azpilicueta, he’ll be used to being dragged out because he’s [previously] been playing right-back,” he added.

“So you might look at the other side a bit more and Cahill maybe, drag him out [to] the wrong positions.”

It is not just the six successive wins that should arguably make Tottenham fans nervous, but also the way in which the Blues have secured those victories.

Since losing 3-0 to Arsenal in September, Chelsea have scored 17 times and have not conceded a single goal along the way.

But Spurs have shown their battling qualities in their last two fixtures, having come from behind to earn a point in the North London derby with Arsenal and a win against West Ham, despite being 2-1 down with 88 minutes on the clock against the Hammers.

And Pochettino will be hoping that they can replicate that same fighting spirit at the weekend to earn a positive result against the team that is perhaps emerging as the pace-setters in the table.
