Spurs are pushing for the top-four places this season.
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has been commenting on the chances of Tottenham Hotspur in the title race this season.
The former Gunner was talking on talkSPORT (19/12/2016), when he spoke of Spurs injury woes this term and how realistically the top four should be their main target – rather than the title:
“Realistically, again, Spurs will want to be in the top four. That’s the most important thing for them, Champions League football.”

Spurs will however need to consider making some moves in the transfer market as they look to compete in both the Premier League and Europa League toward the end of the current campaign.
If they can bring in a new striker in particular that will undoubtedly help matters – as Parlour states, Vincent Janssen is clearly not up to the task of backing up Kane at this point in time.
He stated:
“They’ve had some key injuries though. Alderweireld was out for a while and Harry Kane. Two very important players.
“Everyone knows how important he (Kane) is, the goals he scores. Janssen who they brought in is probably not good enough. At this level at the moment, but maybe he’ll improve as he gets older.
He also went on to discuss the improving form of Dele Alli:
“It’s going to be interesting what they do this transfer window. A couple more signings maybe that strengthens the squad.

“It’s good to see Dele Alli back on the scoresheet because he’s not been as influential as he was last season but sometimes that’s what happens with a young player.”
Alli struggled to find his best form at the start of the campaign, off the back of a tremendous first season at the club.
But he has put in better performances against Swansea City, Hull City and Burnley recently and Spurs fans will be hoping he can soon rediscover that consistency that made him such a threat to teams last season.
The title might be beyond Spurs this term, but if they can start putting things right in the new year, they should not be ruled out.
