Marko Arnautovic recently joined West Ham United from Stoke City in the summer transfer window.

West Ham United have been quite busy in the summer transfer window so far and have made some very good signings.

The Hammers have recruited England international goalkeeper Joe Hart on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.

The London club have also brought in former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen, while Argentine right-back Pablo Zabaleta has joined Slaven Bilic’s side on a free transfer following his departure from City at the end of the 2016-17 season.

West Ham have also signed Marko Arnautovic this summer. According to BBC Sport, the Hammers have paid Stoke City a transfer fee of £20 million which could rise to £25m in order to secure the services of the Austria international attacker.

Arnautovic is a versatile and experienced attacking player who can operate as a forward or as a winger.

The former FC Twente and Werder Bremen man can be inconsistent and does not always help out defensively, but on his day he can be superb.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has given his opinion on the signing of Arnautovic by West Ham from Premier League rivals Stoke.

“Arnautovic is a little hit and miss, but when he is on his game, he is a very good player,” said Parlour about Arnautovic on the The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 24, 2017).

“I have seen him live quite a few times, and he is strong. He goes past a player, he is good on the ball, so if Slaven can get the best out of him in the right position, and say to him ‘Look, you can be a superstar here’, then he could be a really good signing for West Ham.”

Former West Ham striker Dean Ashton has also given his opinion on Arnautovic, and said on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT last Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 21, 2017): “Arnautovic is that kind of maverick that West Ham fans absolutely love.

“At times, they are probably going to hate him, but at times they are going to love him with some of the play that he will come out with.”
