Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Ray Parlour has been analysing the Arsenal squad, and he’s reserved special praise for Martin Odegaard.

The Gunners have looked much improved this season, they’ve gone from being a firmly mid-table side to genuine Champions League qualification contenders, and many of their players have improved.

Parlour says that the likes of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are playing a lot better these days, while he also claims that Odegaard has really stepped up this season.

What’s been said?

Parlour gave his view on the Arsenal team.

“They show that little bit of grit on the pitch, and I think there’s more resilience in the team now. The back four is a lot stronger than it was, Xhaka and Partey are playing a lot better in the midfield now, and we know about Saka, Smith Rowe and Odegaard, he’s really stepped up as well,”  Parlour said.

Settled

Parlour is absolutely right about Odegaard. He’s stepped his game up a notch this season, and it’s not hard to understand why.

Last year, the Norwegian was merely a loanee joining a team halfway through a pandemic affected season.

Now, he’s a permanent member of the Arsenal squad, fans are back in stadiums, and he’s been allowed to settle into his new surroundings a lot more.

The midfielder has improved a lot since his initial loan stint, and there’s reason to believe that he’ll only get better and better.
