Alexandre Lacazette marked his Arsenal debut with a goal in the Gunners’ 2-0 win over FC Sydney in Australia today.
Arsene Wenger’s side kicked off their pre-season preparations with a friendly victory over the Australian outfit.
Per Mertesacker got the scoring underway after four minutes, before the £52 million man added a tap-in from close range shortly after replacing Danny Welbeck on 68 minutes.
Of course, scoring against the A-League outfit in such a nothing game means very little when it comes to gauging how successful he will be in North London.
But it adds to the excitement ever so slightly from an Arsenal perspective, and Gunners legend Ray Parlour reacted on Twitter to the Frenchman’s goal.
The victory could and probably should have been a little more emphatic, but Welbeck missed a second-half penalty.
Nevertheless, Arsenal fans will hope Lacazette proves himself a fine addition, irrespective of the fee, but could he be followed to the Emirates by another big-name signing?
