West Ham United recorded a draw at home to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
Ray Parlour has questioned the future of West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere who has been an ‘absolute disaster’ because of the injuries he has suffered.
The 27-year-old returned to action for the Hammers during their 2-2 draw at home to Leicester City over the weekend.
Speaking to MatchDay Live on talkSPORT (20/04/2019 at 5:05 pm), Parlour spoke about Wilshere and whether he can continue on playing at the highest level.
“Absolutely [let’s hope he stays fit],” Parlour told talkSPORT. “It’s been a really frustrating season for him again. Everyone thought, ‘well, he’s gone to West Ham and he can really establish himself in that midfield area’.
“People are saying if he plays well he can knock on the door again for the England squad, but it’s been an absolute disaster for him again. Him and Andy Carroll are the ones who are always in that treatment room.
“But he’ll be happy that he is back involved because it’s so frustrating when you’re out for long periods of time. The big worry now is what does his future hold? Can he play on a regular basis? Can his body handle the Premier League? The pace of it and it looks like he can’t at the moment.”
In the summer, West Ham opted to snap up the services of Wilshere on a free transfer after his contract at Arsenal had expired.
After starting the season at his new club, Wilshere soon found that his old problems were once again haunting him in new surroundings.
Since September, he has only played 10 minutes of Premier League football [transfermarkt], but with a few games of the season remaining he will be looking to end the campaign on a happy note.
