Ray Parlour has a soft spot for Leeds United supporters.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Ray Parlour has described Leeds United fans as “top supporters” and believes the Whites are building something special this season.
Leeds went down 2-0 at Liverpool on Tuesday night in a League Cup quarter-final defeat which might have taken the wind out of their sails a little bit.
Nevertheless, promotion from the Championship is very much the priority and Garry Monk’s side seem to be going very well on that front.
United, who won one of their first six league matches under Monk, are fifth in the table and victory over in-form Aston Villa on Saturday would consolidate the feel-good vibes regarding their hopes of at least finishing in the top six this season.
Some 6,000 Leeds fans packed into the away end at Anfield in a show of support which was praised by the ex-Arsenal man, who says the 38-year-old manager is building something very promising with the Yorkshire club.
He told talkSPORT: “I’ve been at the Emirates when they brought nine or ten thousand, and they are top supporters. Fantastic support.
“They’ll be looking at the future and thinking ‘We’ve got a great chance of at least being in the playoffs this season’. You can see something there. They’re building something good there and maybe they’ll be back in the Premier League.”
