Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has lauded Martin Odegaard’s impact at the club after the skipper scored his tenth goal of the season in a 3-0 win against Fulham.

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit was full of praise for the Norwegian international, who secured the three points for Arsenal on Sunday with a thunderous finish before the break to make it 3-0 against Fulham and to bring his tally for the season into double digits.

Signed for just £35m from Real Madrid in 2021, Odegaard has firmly established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and one of Mikel Arteta’s best bit of business in the transfer market, with Edu Gaspar also playing a key role in getting the midfielder to north London.

And Parlour has been impressed, with ‘the Romford Pele’ saying: “He’s been a brilliant signing Odegaard. £30-35m, what a steal. Never injured, he always wants the ball in tight situations. That’s why Real Madrid went in for him as a youngster, he didn’t make it, but now he’s such an important player for Arsenal”

Indeed, with Odegaard a regular for Arsenal and named by Arteta as one of the youngest captains in the Premier League, it’s hard not to be impressed with what the 24-year-old has done in just two years in north London and on the Gunners’ books.

And Parlour’s praise is more than justified, with Odegaard proving to be worth every penny Arsenal spent on the Scandinavian playmaker last summer, where the midfielder is well on his way to becoming an icon in his own right at the club.

The first midfielder to hit double digits in the Premier League this season coupled with six assists, Odegaard has really come into his own with Arsenal, and the Norwegian’s latest performance against Fulham was the latest in the playmaker’s bid to win the Player of the Season award.

Whilst the likes of Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka might be early favourites for the award it’s hard to consider Odegaard not in contention for such an accolade, with the 24-year-old once again playing a starring role in the Premier League at Fulham’s expense.
