Ray Parlour is shocked that Liverpool haven’t moved for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez

Liverpool are looking to find a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, after the attacking midfielder moved to Barcelona.

Ray Parlour has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 9th January, that he’s shocked that Liverpool have not made a move to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.

Liverpool are looking to replace Philippe Coutinho, after his departure to Barcelona.

The Reds have so far been strongly linked to Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, but Parlour feels Sanchez would be a better fit.

Parlour said: “I’m surprised Liverpool haven’t come in for him. He’d be perfect for them.”

Whether Sanchez would entertain a move to Liverpool remains to be seen, but he does look set to leave Arsenal.

The Gunners are in sixth place in the Premier League table, and Sanchez’s desire to win trophies looks set to lead to him moving elsewhere.

The Chilean is a top target of Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s side keen to strengthen their attacking ranks.

Sanchez’s contract at Arsenal is due to expire at the end of the season, which means that Arsene Wenger’s side are under pressure to sell him this month, if they are to recoup any funds.

Liverpool’s only signing of the January transfer window to date has been Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton.
