Arsenal legend Ray Parlour reveals his thoughts on Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa’s future after their defeat to Derby County this week.

Leeds United blew their chances of promotion to the Premier League after failing to see off Derby County on Wednesday. A 4-2 loss at home is never an acceptable result for a side like Leeds especially against a side who had lost to them three times this season.

The terrible finish to the league season cost Marcelo Bielsa’s side automatic promotion to the top-flight and failure to keep a first-leg lead in the semi-final raises serious questions over his future at the club.

Talking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show (talkSPORT, Friday, 6.25am), Arsenal Invincible Ray Parlour explained his thoughts about the result. He said: “I thought Leeds would definitely go through”.

Alan Brazil claimed in the show that he had heard that Bielsa was ready to walk away from the club and Parlour seemed surprised.

Parlour replied: “I’d be amazed by that, he’s done a great job.

“They’ll be kicking themselves as they were in the top two for most of the season. I think Bielsa has done a great job and they’ll be absolutely gutted they’re not in the Premier League next season.

“They need to take stock now, have a good pre-season and have another go next season.”

Bielsa has truly done a wonderful job with Leeds and losing him would certainly take the club backwards. The Argentine is their best hope to get them back to the Premier League next season and Leeds should do all they can to convince him to stay in charge next season.
