West Ham United have been linked with a move for Carlos Tevez recently.
Ray Parlour has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 7th July, that West Ham United should be looking to sign Carlos Tevez.
The Daily Mirror suggested yesterday that West Ham have offered £150,000-a-week to Tevez.
However, the Argentine striker has turned down their advances so far – and said that he will not consider a move back to the London club unless he is handed £250,000-a-week.
Those wages would smash West Ham’s current structure, but Parlour feels that it may be a price worth paying.
“If you can get the likes of Tevez back into that squad, that’s the sort of players you want to try and attract. He’s a top player,” the former Arsenal midfielder said.
“If Tevez starts banging the goals in and they’re influential to them getting into the top two or three, then he’ll deserve it [£250,000-a-week].”
Tevez is currently playing for Boca Juniors back in his homeland, and he is said to be very happy.
The 32-year-old has always spoken about how much he loves West Ham, though, following the spell he spent there in his younger years.
Tevez played at West Ham for one season between 2006/07, and he became a huge fans’ favourite at Upton Park.
With West Ham looking for a striker, Tevez would have been a natural fit for Slaven Bilic’s side – but a deal still seems a long way off at the moment.
