Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has told TalkSPORT that he expects West Ham United to complete the signing of Jack Wilshere over Crystal Palace, after the midfielder declared he will leave the Gunners.

Wilshere, 26, confirmed on Instagram earlier this week that he will be leaving the Emirates Stadium after failing to earn a new deal with The Gunners, following Unai Emery’s appointment as manager.

His contract officially expires in 10 days’ time, but has confirmed that he will be leaving the club and according to the bookies, West Ham and Crystal Palace are strong favourites to sign the England international.

Parlour discussed Wilshere’s future on TalkSPORT on Wednesday morning, and reckons Palace will lose out to West Ham because Wilshere’s father is a Hammers fan.

“Crystal Palace and West Ham have been talked about and I think his dad is a west ham fan, so that might be the place he ends up,” Parlour said.

“There will be so many clubs in for Jack and whoever gets him will be getting a very, very good player.”

The former Bolton and Bournemouth loanee made 38 league and cup appearances for the north Londoners this season, scoring two goals and laying on seven assists in Arsene Wenger’s last season.

Wilshere struggled to hold down a regular place in the side, though, with the Gunners boasting midfielders such as Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka.
