The West Ham United loanee was ineligible against Manchester City and Adrian impressed in his absence.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has told Talk Sport that he expects Joe Hart to return to West Ham’s starting XI for their upcoming match against Chelsea.

The England international was ineligible to play against his parent club Manchester City and his replacement Adrian performed admirably in the 2-1 defeat.

That has led the Sun to claim that West Ham boss David Moyes was so impressed with the Spaniard that he is prepared to stick with him, leaving Hart to fear for his World Cup place (which all sounds a bit dramatic after one game). However Parlour does not think it will be long at all before the loan star is back in the team.

“I think Hart will return (against Chelsea),” Parlour said, but it will be interesting to see if Hammers boss David Moyes feels the same after Adrian’s heroics last weekend.

West Ham looked far better against City than they have for much of the campaign and, although much of that was down to a resurgent midfield and some smart defensive decisions, Adrian also played his role.

West Ham are still struggling at the wrong end of the table but it is telling that Hart’s enforced absence came just days after he shipped four against Everton and it would not be the strangest decision if Moyes opted to keep him on the side-lines for a while longer.
