Arsenal earned a vital three points yesterday, following back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.

Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily at 10:20 am on December 27th, ex-Arsenal star Ray Parlour discussed Olivier Giroud’s importance to the Gunners side, after he scored a late winner during their 1-0 win over West Brom yesterday.
The win ensured that Arsene Wenger’s men kept in touch with league leaders Chelsea, and they currently sit in fourth position in the Premier League table, nine points behind the Blues.

And Parlour, who made 470 appearances for Arsenal during a 13-year spell with the club, told Sky Sports how the Frenchman provides the Gunners with an entirely different option, when speaking to Sky Sports:
“He’s a real good option to have, but you’ve got to get the ball in the box though. But a fantastic header yesterday and that’s what he can bring you.”
The Gunners now face a run of five fixtures before their clash with Chelsea on February 4th, where it would not be unrealistic to expect a return of 15 points.

The average league position of their next five opponents is 14.6, and three of those games come at the Emirates.
If they are to have any chance of catching Chelsea, they will surely need maximum points from the set of fixtures, and for the likes of their fringe men, such as Giroud, to start contributing on a regular basis.
