Steve Bruce looks set to be named as Aston Villa’s new boss.
Ray Parlour has told talkSPORT that he can see Aston Villa “shooting up” the Championship table if and when Steve Bruce is appointed as manager.
The 55-year-old is widely expected to be named as Roberto Di Matteo’s successor at Aston Villa today, according to BBC Sport.
Di Matteo was sacked last week as the Villans sit 19th in the Championship table after winning just one of their first 11 games in England’s second tier.

Their form is made that bit more disappointing due to the fact that the Italian spent well over £55 million on transfers in the summer transfer window.
Bruce, who left Hull City in the summer despite guiding them into the Premier League, has four promotions under his belt, and Parlour, speaking to talkSPORT this morning (12/10/2016), says that he will represent a “great, great appointment”.
When asked if Bruce is a good signing, he responded: “Absolutely. He wants to get back in the game [and] Aston Villa are a huge club. They invested heavily in the summer, bringing lots of players in.

“I think it’s a great, great appointment if he ends up getting the job, and I can see Aston Villa going on a run. I think they’ll shoot up the league very quickly.”
Winning promotion this season looks a very big ask, but on the positive side, Aston Villa haven’t been losing games by a huge margin.
They have only conceded 12 goals, which is three less than second-placed Norwich City, so their problems are very solvable and time will tell whether Bruce is that man.
The Villans are 10 points adrift of the top six.
