Leeds United and Aston Villa are in the Championship playoffs this season.

Ray Parlour suggested on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (7am, May 6, 2019) that he would like Leeds United to win promotion via the Championship playoffs, but he believes that Aston Villa are the favourites.

Leeds will take Derby County in the Championship playoff semi-finals this season, while Villa will lock horns with West Bromwich Albion for a place in the final.

Arsenal legend Parlour has given his take on the impending playoffs, and while the former England international has said that Dean Smith’s side are the favourites, he has suggested that he wants Leeds to win promotion back to the Premier League.

Parlour said on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (7am, May 6, 2019) when asked which team he would like to get promoted via the playoffs: “I always say any of them four who will be good to be in the Premier League, but Leeds United have been out of it for a long, long time.

“They have gone through a lot of trauma from the fans’ point of view, going to League One and then coming back into the Championship. Elland Road was always a great stadium to play, as much as Villa Park was.

“So any club out of them four going up, but for me, momentum will be with Aston Villa, slight favourites probably to win it.”

Too hard to call

Leeds, West Brom, Villa and Derby all are strong teams, and it is really hard to call who among them will win promotion.

While the Villans have been brilliant in recent weeks, Derby have a strong team with Frank Lampard in charge.

Leeds narrowly missed out on automatic promotion to the Premier League, while West Brom have arguably the strongest squad and the best attacking unit in the Championship.
