Everton sold Ross Barkley for a paltry £15 million last week.

Ray Parlour has told talkSPORT’s Sports Breakfast, broadcast January 9, that Everton were short-changed in their £15 million sale of Ross Barkley to Chelsea.
The 24-year-old completed his move to the reigning Premier League champions last week, having snubbed a deadline-day switch to Stamford Bridge back in August.
Barkley, who rose through the ranks at Everton, was out of contract at Goodison Park in the summer, meaning that the Toffees had to either sell this month or lose him for free.

Even still, Arsenal legend Parlour believes that £15 million doesn’t represent a great bit of value from an Everton perspective and admits that the move surprised him somewhat.
He told talkSPORT: “They’ve just lost Ross Barkley which was a bit of a surprise move. Where does he play [at Chelsea]? £15 million isn’t a lot of money for him though, is it?
“If he does well then his price goes up threefold. He’ll be worth £40 million if he does well at Chelsea.”

If Barkley kicks on then he’ll probably be worth a lot more than £40 million in the near future.
The England international has bags of talent but he had shown worrying signs of stagnation at Everton in recent years, but if he takes his game to a new level at Chelsea, which is distinctly possible, then his value will surely skyrocket.
