Leeds United are set to take on Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road later this evening.
Ray Parlour has suggested to Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 13th September, that there could be dire consequences for the loser of Leeds United’s match against Blackburn Rovers later this evening.
Both Leeds and Blackburn have made inauspicious starts to the new campaign, and they are due to meet at Elland Road this season.
The pressure is on both sides to pick up the three points, and Parlour has suggested that the losing manager could be fired.
“It’s a huge game,” Parlour said. “We know what the owners are like, they can fire people [quickly].
“It’s amazing to see Leeds and Blackburn fighting for their lives. Leeds is a huge club, so Garry Monk knows exactly what he’s got to do. A result could give belief and confidence back into the side. This is a massive game.
“Something might give after this one, as the pressure will really mount on these managers.”
Leeds have made a marginally better start than Blackburn, but both teams have performed below expectations.
Rovers have failed to win any of their first six games and currently sit at the bottom of the Championship table, while Leeds have won just once.
Blackburn go into the game having rescued a point against Queens Park Rangers last weekend, which was significantly better than Leeds did.
The Whites were very poor in a Yorkshire derby against Huddersfield Town, which they lost 1-0.
A win for either Blackburn or Leeds tonight would be likely to take them out of the relegation zone and up the Championship standings.
