Ray Parlour claims Mark Noble ‘won’t take’ the recent issues surrounding Marko Arnautovic’s West Ham future

West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic has signed a contract extension at the club following speculation about his future

Sky Sports pundit Ray Parlour has claimed that West Ham captain Mark Noble ‘won’t take’ the recent issues surrounding Marko Arnautovic’s future at the club.

On Friday, as reported by Sky Sports, the 29-year-old released a message to the club’s supporters informing them that he will stay in east London following speculation about his future and a potential move to China.

Then on Saturday evening, following the Hammers’ FA Cup defeat to AFC Wimbledon, the club confirmed on their official Twitter account that their star forward has signed a contract extension.

Former Arsenal man Parlour questioned Arnautovic’s role in the dressing room as he claimed that Noble won’t like what he has done in recent weeks.

“I don’t know how big of a figure he is in the dressing room area,” Parlour told the Debate show on Sky Sports on 25/01/2019. “People will respect him for what he has achieved at West Ham for how he has played and they’ll expect him to be 100 per cent now.

“People like Mark Noble won’t take it and he [Noble] will make sure that Arnautovic has his eye on West Ham United until the end of the season.”

Amid the rumours, Arnautovic was not part of the West Ham squad that was beaten by Bournemouth in the Premier League a week ago and by League One outfit AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup [BBC Sport] on Saturday evening.

The Austria international could potentially return for his side’s away clash at high-flying Wolves on Tuesday night – three points could result in Manuel Pellegrini’s side moving into the top eight.

Over the course of the season, Arnautovic has played 18 games in all competitions, scoring eight goals and supplying two assists to his teammates.

Since being away from the first team squad, West Ham have lacked bite, pace and power in the final third as the club’s supporters will be hoping their star forward can repay them for his recent actions by putting in match-winning performances on the pitch.
