Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of moving to the Premier League and joining Leicester City.
talkSPORT pundit Ray Parlour has made a huge claim that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers can ‘get into the top six’ with Leicester City.
Rodgers was confirmed as manager earlier this evening by Leicester.
The Foxes sacked Frenchman Claude Puel on Monday and it seems that they have targeted Rodgers as his replacement despite the Northern Irishman in the middle of helping his current club win yet another Scottish Premiership title.
Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show (25/02/2019 at 6:10 am), former Arsenal man Parlour offered his thoughts on Rodgers heading to Leicester.
“I think Leicester’s a really good job to take,” Parlour told talkSPORT. “I think the owner will always back you. A little bit more financial backing from the owner.
“I think Leicester could be one of those sides that maybe get into that top six. We go back to when they won the league. But I think they can be the ones who can challenge for that top six. I think Brendan will look at the opportunity and say ‘Yeh, I really fancy this’.”
In 2016, Leicester City shocked the world when they became Premier League champions under the stewardship of Claudio Ranieri.
The following season, they competed in the Champions League, but since Ranieri’s sacking, they have had two more permanent managers.
It will be pretty tough for Rodgers to break into the Premier League’s top six, with Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United occupying those places.
He will be hoping to use his success from Swansea and most importantly his experience with Liverpool in order to get the Foxes pushing for those European places.
