Tottenham Hotspur sold Gylfi Sigurdsson to Swansea City back in 2014.

Ray Parlour has suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 28th November, that Tottenham Hotspur should have kept hold of Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Spurs let Sigurdsson join Swansea City back in 2014, and the Icelandic midfielder has gone on to prove his class.

Sigurdsson has arguably been Swansea’s best player since moving to the Welsh club, and he has a developed a happy knack for scoring regularly.

Parlour now believes that Tottenham would have been better off keeping the 27-year-old, rather than signing Moussa Sissoko.

“Sigurdsson, I thought was very good at Tottenham,” the former Arsenal midfielder said. “They’ve bought in Sissoko, but would they have been better off just keeping Sigurdsson? He’s a special player, and he’s really hard to mark. I think he’s a very talented player.”

Sigurdsson has netted 35 goals in 102 appearances for Swansea so far, and he is playing a key role for Bob Bradley’s relegation threatened side.

During his time with Spurs, Sigurdsson scored 13 goals in 83 matches across two seasons at White Hart Lane.

The criticism of Sissoko comes after the former Newcastle United man’s poor start to life with the Lilywhites.

Sissoko moved to Tottenham from Newcastle last summer, but he was excluded from Pochettino’s side’s match day squad for their most recent fixture against Chelsea, and questions are already being asked about his future at White Hart Lane.
