Spurs suffered a 1-0 loss at Wembley to Pep Guardiola’s men.

Ray Clemence and Graham Roberts were both left frustrated on Twitter as their former side Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 1-0 loss to Premier League champions Manchester City at Wembley.
City scored within six minutes as Raheem Sterling reached the byline before cutting back to Riyad Mahrez, who carefully placed the ball into the back of the net. He dedicated his goal to the late Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.
Spurs created plenty of chances to get themselves back into the game, though. Harry Kane was put through on goal but was stopped by Ederson, while the impressive Moussa Sissoko should have done better with his chance.
Erik Lamela then missed a golden chance with the goal gaping, and ex-stopper Clemence bemoaned Spurs lack of cutting edge. Roberts was also frustrated, but he chose to applaud the display of the much-criticised Sissoko.
Spurs have enjoyed their best ever start to a Premier League campaign in their history, having previously won seven matches and only lost two. Their latest loss to City sees them remain fifth, five points behind Guardiola’s leaders.
Tottenham are almost immediately in action again, facing West Ham United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night at the London Stadium before travelling to Wolves on Saturday in the Premier League.
