Jimenez could join Wolves permanently in the summer from Benfica.
Raul Jimenez has been quoted by Birmingham Live as saying that he rejected a move to the Chinese Super League to sign for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer from Benfica.
Jimenez, 27, has been on fire for Wolves this season since joining the Midlands club on a loan-to-buy deal. He has scored 11 goals and laid on six assists for his teammates in 29 league and cup appearances.
The 69-time Mexico international is strong and able to hold the ball up, more than capable of beating a defender in the air but somewhat surprisingly also boasts a degree of pace and is more than willing to run the channels.
Jimenez told Birmingham Live that before signing on the dotted line at Molineux, he opted to reject a move to the Chinese Super League where his wages are likely to have been a lot higher than his current pay packet.
“I’m in a good moment. I had the belief and confidence that this was going to go well. Regarding the offer from China, it was a lot of money, but I knew it wasn’t the right moment,” Jimenez said.
“Everyone has different reasons for making these choices, to return or stay in Europe. I simply had faith that I could make a name for myself in Europe. I think that it’s working, I’m doing well without giving up.”
Wolves fans are obviously keen to see Jimenez sign a permanent deal at Molineux this summer, as he continues to spearhead the Wolves’ attack with aplomb.
However, the report claims that after already paying £2.6million to Benfica as a loan fee, Wolves will have to splash out a whopping £33.3 million to land him permanently.
