Speaking on Vibe With Five, Anton Ferdinand has been speaking about Tottenham’s performance against West Ham this weekend and the goal they conceded against the Hammers.

Spurs lost 1-0, conceding a frustrating goal from a set-piece, and after the game, plenty of fans and pundits had some choice words for Harry Kane’s marking.

Kane was supposed to be covering Michail Antonio, who somehow managed to break away and nod home, but while a lot of the focus was on Kane’s poor man-marking, Ferdinand believes that Oliver Skipp should have done better with his zonal marking at the front post.

What’s been said?

Ferdinand gave his view on Skipp’s defensive work from the corner.

“Skipp should have headed that away. If I was playing in that game I would have been having a go at Skipp rather than Kane if I’m honest. Kane should be reacting, but his body language at the moment isn’t one that wants to be at Spurs,” Ferdinand said.

Frustrating

Conceding from set-pieces is undoubtedly one of the most frustrating things that can happen in football.

On paper, it seems rather simple, just make sure the ball doesn’t go into the net, but when you have the likes of Aaron Cresswell delivering and Michail Antonio attacking, it’s a tough task.

Could Skipp have done better? Probably, but we wouldn’t call it a glaring error on his part, Cresswell’s ball in was brilliant and Antonio simply timed his run to perfection.
