Some Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking the club with Manchester United central defender Axel Tuanzebe.
According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 63, July 26, 2020), Leeds are interested in signing Tuanzebe from United in the summer transfer window.
The Whites – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching automatic promotion from the Championship this campaign – are looking at the 22-year-old as a potential target if they are unable to keep Ben White at Elland Road.
White is back at his parent club Brighton and Hove Albion after a successful loan spell at Elland Road in 2019-20.
Although Leeds want the 22-year-old back, Brighton are not willing to send him to Marcelo Bielsa’s side as they anticipate them to be fighting relegation alongside them in the Premier League next season, according to the report.
Tuanzebe has been on the books of United since 2005, but the English youngster has yet to establish himself as a regular in the first team.
According to WhoScored, the defender made two starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League, played thrice in the Europa League, and featured twice in the EFL Cup for the Red Devils this season.
