Speaking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, Patrick Bamford has been speaking about Leeds’ new signing Daniel James.
James made his debut this weekend against Liverpool, but we’re undoubtedly still yet to see the best of the Welshman in a Leeds shirt.
Bamford has been waxing-lyrical about James’ pace, claiming that he’s settled in really well due to the fact he almost signed for the club back in 2019.
What’s been said?
Bamford was asked about how quick James is.
“I don’t know, we’ll have to see a sprint,” Bamford said.
The striker was then informed that he had actually clocked the highest speed of any player in the squad, to which he replied:
“Yeah, I don’t know if anyone will beat my speed over a long distance. People think I’m slow, but nobody has managed to top that speed. But no, Dan James is rapid. But because of the whole thing where he nearly signed, it’s almost like he’s already been here. Seeing him in the dressing room wasn’t like a new player.”

So quick
If James is to bring anything to Leeds, it’s pace.
As Bamford says, the winger is absolutely rapid, and that attribute should suit the Whites to a tee.
Indeed, Bielsa’s side are so often effective on the counter, and with James in the side, there are very few teams who will be able to keep up with the former Manchester United man.
We’re sure that Bamford’s speed record will be broken by James sooner rather than later.
