Danny Murphy has said on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:58pm, August 21, 2021) that Leeds United winger Raphinha should score more goals after watching him in action against Everton yesterday.
Raphinha scored a wonderful goal in the second half of the Premier League game between Leeds and Everton at Elland Road.
The 24-year-old Brazilian winger’s goal helped Marcelo Bielsa’s side draw the match 2-2.
Former Liverpool midfielder Murphy was impressed by Raphinha’s performance, and he believes that the winger should score more goals.
Murphy said about Raphinha on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:58pm, August 21, 2021), as transcribed by Leeds Live: “But Raphinha was the man for me. The whole 90 minutes he was demanding the ball, and was brave on the ball.
“I’m surprised he only got six goals last season with his ability. He should be doubling that this season. He has a wonderful left foot, is really direct and I like it when he comes short.”
Scoring more goals
Patrick Bamford is the main goalscorer at Leeds.
Well, he should be really because the Englishman is the striker for the Whites.
However, it is important that other players chip in with goals, especially the attackers.
Raphinha scored six goals and gave nine assists in 26 Premier League starts for Leeds last season.
The Brazilian could certainly add to his goal tally this time around, especially given the way he found the back of the net against Everton at Eland Road.
It is never a good idea for a team to rely on one player to score goals all the time.
Now, Leeds do have other players who can and do score goals, such as Jack Harrison and Stuart Dallas, but it would be great for the team if Raphinha finds the back of the net more often as well.
