The Italian youngster says that Tottenham Hotspur were amongst a whole host of clubs who wanted to sign him last summer.
Bordeaux youngster Raoul Bellanova claimed that he was asked by Tottenham to move to north London last summer, when he was at AC Milan, during an exclusive interview with Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web.
The 19-year-old right-back eventually left the San Siro for Bordeaux before immediately being loaned back to the Italian giants, although he failed to make a single appearance for them.
Spurs are rumoured to be in the market for a new right-back, with Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier facing uncertain futures at the club, although they will surely be setting their sights higher than Bellanova.
The Italy under-20 international is still yet to make a senior appearance for either Milan or Bordeaux, and Tottenham would be taking a big risk by bringing him to the Premier League.
Bellanova suggested that he was approached by Spurs over the possibility of moving to north London last year, when speaking during an exclusive interview with Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web:
“Yes, I was close to Manchester City, but I was also asked by Tottenham, Juventus, Sampdoria, Bologna and many other teams.”
Only time will tell whether Bellanova goes on to become a top class player, and if what he says is true, Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham will be keeping a close eye on his progress over the next few years.
