Leeds United have some good striker options ahead of the new season.
Leeds United manager Uwe Rosler deserves some credit for improving his attacking options ahead of the new Championship season.
Despite the youthful talent in the squad, the attack is one area where the side struggled under Neil Redfearn towards the end of the last campaign and the German has wasted no time in terms of bringing fresh faces and giving himself extra options.
We’ve put Leeds’ current attacking options in terms of their possible positions in the pecking order at the club, as Rosler decides who will start against Burnley in just over a week.
The strikers: Wood, Antenucci, Erwin, Morison, Ajose, Walters, Parkin
Wood, Antenucci and Erwin
This trio are likely to be the three players that Rosler relies on the most over the next 12 months.
Antenucci has the edge in terms of experience, but Wood and Erwin have been used extensively during the pre-season period, which suggests that they are going to be playing a lot over the first few weeks of the season.
Wood has the look of an extremely strong striker who is capable of playing in any way while Erwin could be asked to play a slightly wider role if Rosler can’t sign a left sided winger before that first game against Burnley.
The best of the rest
Steve Morison will be a good experienced option for the club, but only if he stays at Elland Road and then it’s a case of the back-up options in the form of Nicky Ajose, who could play wide, and youngsters Lewis Walters and Luke Parkin.
The problem with the younger players in terms of their roles as strikers is that they could find opportunities hard to come by so it’s important they are ready to take those chances when they arrive.
