Celtic secured the services of five players in the summer.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was picky at best when it came to adding players to his Hoops side in the summer, adding five new faces to the Scottish champions’ side in total.
Despite being linked with a whole host of names and fans crying out for a goalkeeper and a centre-back, Rodgers instead opted to sign four midfielders and a striker. Here, we rank Celtic’s summer signings.
5 – Jonny Hayes
The Ireland international seemed somewhat of a coup in the summer, after the 30-year-old scored 11 goals and had a hand in a huge 24 assists for Aberdeen during the 2016-17 season.
However, Hayes has been in and out of the Celtic side this season, failing to score and laying on just one assist in 16 league and cup appearances for the Hoops. Offloading him in January should be a priority for Rodgers.
4 – Kundai Benyu
English-born Zimbabwe international Benyu has hardly been given a sniff in Glasgow since his summer move from Championship side Ipswich Town, appearing just four times for the Scottish champions.
Allowing him to leave on loan in January is a move that would suit all parties, as the 20-year-old remains behind the likes of Olivier Ntcham, Scott Brown, Nir Bitton, Stuart Armstrong and Callum McGregor for a place in midfield.
3 – Patrick Roberts
Slightly unlucky to be in third, Manchester City loanee Roberts has struggled with numerous injuries after Celtic finally declared their capture of the former Fulham ace on another season-long loan.
But in the 12 appearances he has made, attacking midfielder Roberts seems a shadow of his former self that set alight the Scottish Premiership last term. He has managed just one goal all season, and is likely to be behind Scott Sinclair and James Forrest in the pecking order.
2 – Odsonne Edouard
On loan from Paris Saint-Germain, Edouard has endured a difficult spell but in recent matches has been picked over Leigh Griffiths with Moussa Dembele’s injuries beginning to toll up once again.
Finding his feet as the confidence continues to flow with the more goals he scores, teenage ace Edouard could be a possible permanent signing at the end of the season if Celtic can afford his services.
1 – Olivier Ntcham
The ball-playing midfielder looks like he has worn Glasgow’s green and white for years, as the midfield powerhouse continues to shine from deep in Rodgers’ 4-2-3-1 system.
Costing just £4.5million from Man City, the Frenchman is a bargain buy and a great bit of business by Brendan Rodgers – with his performances showing he is worth double that.
