Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri was delighted with his side’s Champions League win last night, and spoke to reporters after the game, offering high praise to Riyad Mahrez, as quoted by the Guardian.
Leicester’s magical journey continued last night in Belgium when they defeated Club Brugge 3-0 with goals from Marc Albrighton and Riyad Mahrez.

Ranieri spoke to reporters after his side’s magnificent display, and singled out his Algerian star for praise, as quoted by the Guardian:
“Maybe the music woke up him. Maybe he’s tired of dilly-ding, dilly dong and the Champions League music woke him. I liked his performance, he worked very hard.”
The 25-year-old winger was heavily linked with an exit from the King Power Stadium throughout the course of the summer, but eventually committed his future to the Foxes by signing a new four-year contract with the club in August.
Whist he has began this season rather sluggishly, his performance last night was much more like what is expected of him after his heroics during Leicester’s Premier League winning campaign last term.

Ranieri went on to discuss Mahrez’s display, and his courage in taking the penalty to take the game beyond Brugge:
“If he hadn’t scored I’d take his neck and crush his neck! He took the responsibility. I tried to say Slimani because he’s a penalty scorer. But he took the responsibility and scored. He was a lucky man!”
Leicester resume their Premier League duties with a home game against Burnley on Saturday.
