Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has claimed Liverpool are among his favourites for the title this season, in his pre-match press conference.

Much is expected of the Reds this season in Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in charge at Anfield.

The German has been busy in the summer transfer window, as he has completely overhauled the squad to better suit his needs.

Seven new players have arrived, with big money moves for Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum catching the eye.

Their target is to try and secure a top four place and Champions League football, but Ranieri believes they are actually strong contenders for the Premier League title.

“I think Liverpool is one of the main favourites to win the league,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

“They are a very good team and they are ready. Of course to win you need a little luck but they are ready to fight for the title.”

One factor that may be in Liverpool’s favour is that they do not have to contend with European football also this season.

That is something that has helped them in the past, with the lack of European football playing a big role in helping them to challenge for the title under Brendan Rodgers in 2013/14.

Of course that season there weren’t as many contenders as this year but that one advantage could still play a part, even if it only means they secure top four ahead of their rivals.
