Ralf Rangnick has claimed that the atmosphere inside Elland Road was ‘amazing’ when Leeds United equalised against Manchester United on Sunday, as he told BBC Sport.

Leeds ended up losing the contest 4-2 in a bruising, all-action and old fashioned affair in Yorkshire.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side didn’t help matters by going 2-0 down inside the first half, but a crazy minute of football in the second saw them level.

That’s when the Leeds players and the thousands in attendance would have tasted blood, but Manchester United kept their composure to punish their error-prone rivals on two more occasions.

Rangnick, who was experiencing his first-ever Leeds-Manchester United game, shared his thoughts on the match and the atmosphere.

“I think, apart from the two managers, everybody probably enjoyed that game,” said Rangnick.

“It was never boring. It was always intense. You expected something to happen and that’s what football should be like.

“We conceded two goals in a minute and that changed the whole game. The atmosphere was amazing during those five minutes.

“But we kept our head up and showed maturity out on the pitch. And that was the only way to achieve the turnaround again.”

These are now the crunch moments of the season where you don’t want to hit your worst form.

Leeds are certainly experiencing a difficult time of it, especially at the back and they just can’t stop shipping goals.

There will be some nerves in the Elland Road camp and worry that they might just drop down.

Given their attack, how they can change the game within a switch and the players they have returning from injury, then they should be fine.

But, one thing is for sure, they are looking over their shoulders, at this moment in time.
