Rangers midfielder Jordan Thompson has taken to Twitter in order to send a message to team-mate Barrie McKay after his Scotland debut.
Scotland headed to Metz on Saturday evening to take on France, as Gordon Strachan’s men offered an opponent to Didier Deschamps’ side ahead of their Euro 2016 campaign.
Scotland won’t be in the competition, and it’s just as well as Strachan’s side fell flat in France with a 3-0 defeat, with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud (twice) and Laurent Koscielny getting themselves on the scoresheet in an easy win.
Strachan didn’t exactly experiment with his side, but he did hand a debut to Rangers winger Barrie McKay, who came on as an 84th minute substitute.
The 21-year-old wide man enjoyed a superb season for Rangers with six goals, as his career has taken off under manager Mark Warburton.
Now a key player at Ibrox having previously been an afterthought, McKay is tipped for a huge future with Rangers, and winning his first Scotland cap was a huge moment for him.
Having come on for James McArthur, McKay received a message on Twitter from Rangers team-mate Jordan Thompson, who admitted that the winger deserved his appearance after impressing so much in the Gers’ promotion-winning campaign this past season.
