Glasgow Rangers are keen on signing strikers, so what next for Alfredo Morelos?

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Glasgow Rangers are busy trying to secure transfer deals for new strikers as they revolution under Steven Gerrard begins to take shape.

It is clear the Gers are targeting goalscorers, with three already lined up for moves to Ibrox… which asks a big question over star man Alfredo Morelos.

Alfredo Morelos of Rangers gets taken down by Peter Hartley of Motherwell during the Betfred Cup Semi Final at Hampden Park on October 22, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Daily Record claims Rangers want a double signing of Jermain Defoe and Dominic Solanke and negotiations are already underway.

Meanwhile sporting director Mark Allen confirmed that talks are ongoing over the potential signing of loanee Jason Cummings, The Scotsman reported.

The moves show Rangers want new options, and this season’s star man Alfredo Morelos could be the odd one out.

Morelos finished as Rangers’ top scorer with 14 goals this past season but the positives were outweighed by his disappointments against Celtic, where he failed to score in the four Old Firm games he started.

The Colombian was linked with a £8 million move away from the club [SkySports] in February amid interest from China.

While Solanke would only be on a loan deal, the addition of three strikers would crowd Morelos out, and because he is a saleable asset, it make sense Rangers could look to cash in.

He would likely be left out of Celtic clashes in favour of the new additions after his failure last year, and Morelos may not want to accept being second, third or even fourth choice.
