The Rangers winger hasn’t played for Steven Gerrard’s side since his debut at Ibrox last November.

The young Rangers winger Serge Atakayi has pleaded for a chance to play football.

Atakayi made his long-awaited Rangers debut during last November’s demolition of Motherwell at Ibrox, but suffered an injury that very same game which kept him out for the best part of the next four months.

He last appeared for Rangers’ development squad against Cambridge United last month – although he was on the bench for Tuesday’s Glasgow Cup tie with Patrick Thistle – after returning to his parent club from a loan spell at Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho earlier this year.

And the DR Congo-born talent may have to move again if he is to fulfil his wish, which he broadcast in his native French on Instagram yesterday afternoon (Monday).

“(L)aisse moi jouer encore,” he wrote, which translates into English as: “Let me play again.”

The transfer deadline for Scottish clubs is next Monday (2 September), however, Atakayi could still leave Rangers after then to any club in a league where the window remains open.

The 20-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Ibrox.
