The Rangers winger was injured on his debut for the Ibrox side last week, with Steven Gerrard suggesting he will be out for ‘a short time’.
Rangers’ Serge Atakayi has undergone surgery after suffering an injury on his first team debut at Ibrox last weekend.
Atakayi was forced off minutes after his introduction in Rangers’ 7-1 win against Motherwell.
The Finnish winger later shared a photo of himself on crutches, whilst wearing a protective boot, with another one seemingly showing him en route to London, presumably for treatment.
And those suspicions have now been confirmed after Atakayi posted an Instagram story update from his hospital bed on Tuesday evening.
“Operation went really well,” he wrote. “(M)y recovery starts now!”
After Motherwell, the Rangers manager Steven Gerrard suggested his side could be without Atakayi for ‘a short time’. However, it is unlikely, as things stand, that the 2016 Rangers recruit will be fit for Saturday’s visit of Livingston.
The 19-year-old has had to bide his time since arriving at Ibrox, but took advantage of Daniel Candeias’s suspension and injuries to Ryan Kent and Jamie Murphy to make the bench against Motherwell.
