Mark Warburton’s Glasgow Rangers side could only manage a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
Rangers’ Michael O’Halloran
Rangers winger Michael O’Halloran has praised Joe Garner’s performance during the club’s draw with St Johnstone on Wednesday night, RangersTV (via club’s official website) reports.
Mark Warburton’s men failed to bounce back following their semi-final defeat last weekend as they could only draw 1-1 against the Saints, much to the disappointment of the Ibrox crowd who greeted the full-time whistle with a round of boos.
Rangers’ Joe Garner had just one goal before Wednesday
But while the Gers were unable to secure the win, there were some positives to take from the clash, including the performances of O’Halloran and Garner who have both struggled to make a real impact this term.
But after the latter bagged Rangers’ equaliser, O’Halloran has suggested that his teammate can be pleased with his own display.
Garner, during his time with Preston
“We got the goal which was a great finish from Joe,” he told RangersTV (via club’s official website).
“He led the line well and he puts himself about which sets the tone for the rest of the team. Joe is a finisher, and being a winger, I know he is going to get into the box and it’s nice if you know you put it in he is going to get in about it.”
Rangers manager Mark Warburton
With the summer signing scoring just once since his arrival before Wednesday, Warburton will be hoping that the former Preston man’s goal provides him with a boost of confidence.
The Light Blues have struggled for goals in the Scottish Premiership this season, so, with four games that they will be expecting to win now ahead, Garner will be desperate to ensure that the wait for his third goal is nowhere near as long as the wait for his second was.
