Rangers winger Glenn Middleton has suggested to The Scottish Sun that he is ready to play as a striker at Ibrox today if needed.

Steven Gerrard’s side will take on St. Johnstone at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership in a few hours’ time.

Rangers manager Gerrard has suggested to BBC Sport that strikers Jermain Defoe and Kyle Lafferty are doubtful for the game due to injury.

Colombia international striker Alfredo Morelos is suspended for this afternoon’s game.

Middleton is a winger, but the 19-year-old Scotland Under-21 international has suggested that he is ready to be deploy as a striker if needed.

The youngster told The Scottish Sun: “I’m ready to play wherever needed. “We have spoken about playing up front before, so whatever the gaffer has in mind I’m ready.”

Middleton has made 13 appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers so far this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 51 points from 25 matches, six points behind leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic.

A win today will increase the pressure on Celtic, who remain the favourites to win the title this season.
