Rangers are reportedly set to bring Joe Aribo to Ibrox.

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer during the Sky Bet League One match between Sunderland and Charlton Athletic at Stadium of Light on August 4, 2018 in Sunderland, United Kingdom.

Rangers will tie up their seventh signing of the summer within a matter of hours according to the Daily Mail, with a deal for Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo close.

The Gers have already landed Steven Davis, Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, Greg Stewart, Sheyi Ojo and George Edmundson, and Aribo looks set to become number seven.

Aribo, 22, is out of contract at the end of the month, meaning Rangers will only have to pay around £300,000 to sign the playmaker.

With 10 goals and five assists last season, Aribo became one of the top young talents in the Football League, and if that isn’t exciting enough for Gers fans, then Lee Bowyer’s comments will be.

Charlton boss Bowyer spoke to talkSPORT about Aribo’s future on Saturday, and claimed that not only are Rangers keen, but Premier League, French and German teams are all trying to sign him.

With such strong competition, this is a major coup for Rangers. It can often be tough to sell Scottish football to in-demand players, especially if they’re wanted by Premier League teams too.

That’s what Rangers appear to have done though, and it’s fair to say that any midfielder would love to play for Gerrard, and Aribo is seemingly no different.

For just £300,000, this is an absolute bargain for Rangers, adding the creative and skilful playmaker they’ve needed, whilst beating major clubs in the process – and added all together, that’s a major transfer win for the Gers.
