Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have a passionate goalkeeper in Wes Foderingham – on and off the field it seems.

Wes Foderingham has told a Rangers press conference today that he feels as if goalkeepers are given a rough time of it by pundits in football, after taking a slight dig at Gary Neville on Twitter for his “over the top” criticism.
The Rangers keeper took to Twitter on Sunday and admitted that he is ‘irritated’ by some former players who constantly berate goalkeepers.
Foderingham was speaking in response to Neville’s assessment of Arsenal’s David Ospina after the Gunners lost 3-0 to Manchester City in a League Cup final yesterday.

The 27-year-old claimed on social media that such harsh treatment by well-known figures within the game will make young boys and girls not want to be a goalkeeper.

And speaking to a Rangers’ press conference today, Foderingham believes that Neville and that ilk go “over the top” in their criticism when asked about the tweet.
“I bit my tongue on that for a while if I’m honest. I just think pundits are a little bit harsh on the goalkeepers these days. Some pundits have had fantastic careers themselves, but not as a goalkeeper. It’s a bit of a specialist position.”
Foderingham has been immense for Rangers this season. Along with James Tavernier, the English keeper has been probably the Gers’ most consistent performer and it’s refreshing to see that his passion extends beyond on-the-pitch matters.
