Rangers’ hopes of bringing Harry Wilson to Ibrox could already be fading.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers have tied up the signing of one Liverpool talent in Ovie Ejaria, but a deal for Harry Wilson now looks to be a distant dream for manager Steven Gerrard.

The Gers have snapped up six new signings this summer, with Liverpool loanee Ejaria joining Allan McGregor, Jon Flanagan, Nikola Katic, Connor Goldson and Scott Arfield at Ibrox.

Rangers are still in the market for more new signings, and whilst the Scottish Mail on Sunday (back page) suggested that Liverpool winger Benj Woodburn is a top loan target for Gerrard, one deal which doesn’t look close is Harry Wilson.

Last month, the Scottish Sun reported that Rangers were close to tying up a deal for Wilson, but no deal has been struck – and in truth, Rangers look less and less likely to sign him now.

Firstly, The Mirror recently reported that Fulham and Huddersfield Town both want to sign winger Wilson for £7million, with the two Premier League clubs clearly impressed with the Welshman and willing to put a considerable fee on the table for the Reds to mull over.

Now, The Sun report that Norwich City are one of the favourites to sign Wilson if he goes out on loan, with Rangers seemingly falling away in the race for his signature at an early stage.

Wilson, 21, hit seven goals and three assists in 13 games on loan for Hull, and would have been a superb signing for Rangers, but signing one of his Liverpool teammates seems to be far more likely right now.

Woodburn may be the natural target after playing just two competitive games last season, or even Ryan Kent would be more of a realistic potential signing for Rangers, so whilst Wilson may be drifting away from Gerrard, he could still return to sign another Liverpool winger.
