Juventus legend and seven-time Serie A champion Claudio Marchisio has been linked with a shock move to Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers.

Rangers are facing competition from teams in Saudi Arabia for free agent Claudio Marchisio, according to Goal, with the Juventus legend potentially set to be offered a money-spinning contract in the Middle East.
Rangers’ owners have certainly backed Steven Gerrard in the transfer market since the summer of 2018 with the Glasgow giants’ net spend over the last year currently standing at £18 million.
But Marchisio, a 33-year-old midfielder whose short-term spell at Zenit St Petersburg came to an end recently, would certainly be the most high profile addition of Gerrard’s tenure north of the border.
RMC claims that a veteran of 55 Italy caps has been in talks over a shock move to Ibrox – but Rangers are not the only club keen to snap up a player who would be a marquee addition for almost any side looking for a bargain.

Goal claims that Marchisio also has teams in Saudi Arabia vying for his signature. The seven-time Serie A champion could be tempted to join his close friend Sebastian Giovinco, who joined Al-Hilal earlier in the year, with clubs in the Middle East potentially offering around £9 million a year (£170,000-a-week).
Needless to say, Rangers cannot match those figures.
But what Rangers can offer is a chance for Marchisio to be a legend at one of Europe’s most historic clubs by ending Celtic’s eight-year reign at the top of the domestic game.
